Last week the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) returned to Colombia to follow up and expand on its localization of United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR) 1325 and 1820 program with a high level event and two workshops in Bogotá, Colombia February 3 – 5, 2016.

Rebuilding South Sudan after the signing of the Peace Agreement

The Peace Forum took place the last week of October, closing out the month-long commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of UNSCR 1325. Rita Martin, Executive Director of EVE Organization for Women Development in South Sudan spoke to a full house during the panel -- South Sudanese Peace Agreement: Implications on Women’s Participation in the Peacebuilding and Political Process.

Young Women, Peace and Security

Yesterday’s side event to the High-Level Review on United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 entitled, Young Women, Peace & Security, was an event to give young women and men peacebuilders a platform to share their experiences, to highlight the Amman Declaration on Youth, Peace and Security, and to put forth concrete measures to recognize and support the work of young women and men peacebuilders.

Localization Workshops in Kitgum and Amuria, Uganda September 29 - October 2, 2015

Last week, the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) concluded its Localization Workshops on United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR) 1325 and 1820 in Uganda in Kitgum District on 29 and 30 September, and in Amuria District 1 and 2 October 2015.

The Workshops took place in collaboration with the Ugandan Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development, The Coalition for Action on 1325 (CoACT) and with the support of the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP).

GNWP Scales up its Localization Workshops on UNSCR 1325 and 1820 in Uganda

Kampala, September 28, 2015 – The Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP) is proud to announce the launch of its Localization program on the UN Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820 on Women, Peace and Security in Kitgum and Amuria districts in Uganda.  The Localization workshops will take place in Kitgum on September 29 – 30, 2015 and in Amuria on October 1 – 2, 2015.

DRC Celebrates Launch of Localization Guidelines for Integration of UNSCR 1325 and 1820

The Ceremony for the Launch of the Guidelines for the integration of United Nations Resolutions (UNSCR) 1325 and 1820 of the local development plans in Democratic Republic of Congo took place in Kinshasa, DRC on 18 August 2015.

The creation and launch of the Guidelines took place in partnership with Ministery of Gender, Women and Children, le Cadre permanent de Concertation de la Femme Congolaise (CAFCO), and with the support of the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP).
